电影台词因其瞬时性、通俗性和简洁性的特点,不同于一般的书面文字,因此,其翻译也要遵循瞬时性、大众性和简洁化的特点。

同时,由于空间和时间的限制,翻译的字幕的字数及行数是受到限制的,所以翻译台词时应该做到译文简洁明了,一目了然,在有限的时间和空间里实现信息的传递。而且由于汉英文化差异,电影中许多具有文化色彩的词语和特殊的语言形式,也给台词的翻译增加了难度。

现在译者针对《怦然心动》里一些经典台词与大家一同探讨其翻译技巧。

1. Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss. But every once in a while you find someone who’s iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare.

在这里,译者把英文里的”God(上帝)”,翻译成中文里的“老天”,更加符合观众的表达习惯。
